Product Description

A plant species called bhilawa, often referred to as the marking nut or Semecarpus anacardium, is indigenous to Southeast Asia and India. It is a member of the Anacardiaceae family, which also includes mango and cashew trees.

The medium-sized deciduous marking nut tree has a height range of 10-15 metres. It features small, yellowish blooms and broad, glossy leaves. The tree's fruit is a kidney-shaped drupe that has an orange-colored fleshy receptacle surrounding a single seed. The portion of the fruit known as the marking nut can be found in this container.

The marking nut's usage as a natural ink is how it got its name. When the fruit's flesh is cut or shattered, a liquid that contains anacardic acid and other compounds emerges in a yellowish-brown colour. India has a long history of using this liquid as writing ink and to mark clothing. However, it should be mentioned that some people may get skin rashes and allergies from the marking nut's liquid, thus care should be taken when handling it.

The marking nut has been employed in traditional medicine for a number of purposes in addition to its function as ink. It has been utilised in Ayurveda, the conventional Indian medical system, to treat problems like rheumatism, arthritis, skin conditions, and digestive issues. The potential anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and anticancer activities of extracts from marking nuts have also been investigated, although further studies are required to properly understand their efficacy and safety.

Bhilawa, also known as the marking nut, is a plant that has significant cultural, traditional, and medical uses in India and other Southeast Asian countries. Before taking it for any purpose, it is crucial to use caution and obtain advice from specialists or medical professionals.
